Support from Germany
For three weeks in January we had a team of the
Discipleship Training School of YWAM, Eutin visiting us.
They have been of great help
during our outreaches to the streets.
They also did a lot of work around the property and have blessed us in so many ways.
We had a really good time together and we miss them a lot...
In Their Own Words
Christiane:
The time in Austin was really a time of blessing
for me. Never before have I experienced such a freedom to do public worship and talk to people nobody else talks to. The natural way to get in
contact with homeless people and runaways impressed me and also the fact that there was never a pressure to have to do things "superspiritually"
helped me to do this work with an open heart.
I think, this is also the reason why the people on the street really trust the HELP-team – because
they walk in God’s ways and are totally dependent on him, but also never forget that they work with people who have a totally different lifestyle
.
I could learn to love the people on the street and not judging them because of their way of living – but also not to encourage them in the thing
s they do. That this is a successful way of building trustful relationships I could tell by the fact that some of the people actually account to the
team the amount of alcohol they drank the last week or something like that.
God's truth obviously has an impact on these people – and being part of
his work in this city was a great experience.
Deborah:
Since I've never met Runaway-Kids before, I had no idea what this expression really meant. When we met them for the first time on the street now, it was very interesting to hear from them.
In general I found it easy to get into conversation with the people. Over the days we always saw the same ones again and so we were able to pick up where we left off. One of my highlights occurred when we once were on outreach as a team.
While we were having a conversation with "new" people, all of a sudden two guys which we knew already, tapped us on our shoulders. Later we were praying and walking further through the streets. Suddenly we met the two guys again, which looked burdened. We asked them if they would like to receive prayer and they answered: "Oh yes, please!" So we could pray out God's thoughts over their lives, which will last for eternity.
over their lives, which will last for eternity.
Miriam:
This time with you in Austin was fun!
I am touched by the LIFE, that I could see in your relationships and ministry.
It is special to experience the way you treat yourselves as couples and as a whole team- and also how you approach God with joy in worship!
There is such a beauty shining through it.
I am impressed that you go on the street every day, just to be available for the people out there and being interested in their lifes- with the desire that
these people meet with God!
