"Cream and Sugar" is a Christian outreach program especially to the subculture of young homeless, Gutter Punks, Hippies, and Travelers. Cream and Sugar consists of four aspects:

Cream and Sugar: Mobile Coffee Shop

In 2007 we remodeled a 1969 travel trailer into a mobile coffee shop. Three days a week we park the trailer close to "The Drag" (Guadalupe Street) where our young street people linger.
Usually we are there Monday and Wednesday between 2:30pm and 5pm and Thursday from 9am until 12pm.
They love to come into the trailer to drink coffee, enjoy fellowship and get some rest from the busy street life. The trailer is supposed to be a big "living room" - a place where people feel safe and comfortable and where they can experience the presence and the power of God. It is a place where we can pray for people and talk to them without the distractions that we have to deal with on the sidewalk.
Since its launch in October 2007, this project has been a huge success. Cream and Sugar literally became part of the scene and many people have experienced a real encounter with Jesus for the first time.

CreamAndSugar.org: Website

In June 2007 we launched our website "creamandsugar.org". This website is designed to be the link between our traveling friends on the road and us.
It is packed with testimonies, articles, videos, pictures, information and a blog. Since our young homeless friends are very accustomed to electronic communications (Internet, Email, My Space, You Tube) we can easily reach them through creamandsugar.org and bring them in touch with Jesus.

Cream and Sugar: Merchandise

Our vision is to reach this whole subculture with the idea of Cream and Sugar. In order to do so we developed several promotional items such as pins, patches, business cards, t-shirts, flyers and a custom-made Cream and Sugar bible.
We try to spread these items among the young travelers with the intention to reach other young homeless through them.
Our goal is to awaken curiosity and to make them look up our webpage or come and visit us in Austin and get to know Jesus.

Cream and Sugar: The Rainbow Gatherings

Since the Flower Power Movement in the late sixties, people have been gathering in National Forests as the so-called "Rainbow Family". Up to 30,000 people meet for several weeks in order to make a stand for world peace or to celebrate an alternative lifestyle and mother nature. There is always an impressive mixture of individuals of all races, languages and beliefs.
Cream and Sugar started to attend these Gatherings back in 2007. We set up our Cream and Sugar Kitchen and serve coffee and noodle soup. Many of the people we minister to in Austin are the ones we meet again at the Rainbow Gatherings. A great number of the Rainbow people are spiritually hungry and often it is easy to share Jesus with them.
